After we reviewed how to navigate the library, Mrs. Byman gave a book talk on books that are excellent choices for 6th graders.

Finally, the students had time to checkout books and some even got to read their books in the meditation room.

Mr. Flaherty's social studies students will be in the library for the next two weeks and learning about the Syrian refugee crisis. Students will be watching a documentary called Born in Syria and taking notes in preparation for an essay they will be writing on the subject. They learned about the events that led to the Syrian Civil War and all the countries that have a vested interest in Syria. Below are some videos and the documentary on the Syrian refugee crisis.
