Grading Expectations

  • Amesbury Middle School Grade Explanation and Meaning

    -          An A means the student has completed proficient work on all content learning objectives and advanced work on some learning objectives.

    -          A B means the student has completed proficient work on all content learning objectives.

    -          A C means the student has completed proficient work on the most important content learning objectives, although not on all objectives. The student is still on track in meeting grade level requirements and minimum requirements for the start of the next grade level.

    -          A D means the student has completed proficient work on at least one-half of the course objectives but is missing some important objectives and potentially is at significant risk of failing the course for the school year if not addressed through an immediate plan of action for assistance. The student would not have the minimum skills necessary at the next grade level to be successful.

    -          An F means the student has completed proficient work on less than one-half of the content learning objectives and is in serious jeopardy of not being able to successfully complete the course for the school year.  An immediate plan of action for assistance needs to be put in place.  The student would not have the necessary skills to begin the next school year and a decision of either repeating the current grade or assignment to the next grade will need to be determined at a scheduled team meeting before June 1st.
