Health and Wellness Committee
In the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004, the U.S. Congress established a requirement that all school districts with a federally-funded school meals program develop and implement wellness policies that address nutrition and physical activity.
A school wellness program can effectively raise students' awareness of the lifestyle choices they are making each day. It can promote better eating and exercise habits, which can help the students have the energy and focus they need to do well in class. When you focus on the overall well-being of the students in the school, their ability to learn will improve.
