Hello!
I am Nurse Michelle, and I’m thrilled to be part of the amazing APS nursing team! I joined during the 2024–2025 school year, bringing with me 25 years of nursing experience.
My nursing journey began at the University of New Hampshire followed by my employement at BIDMC, Boston in 2000, where I worked as a medical-surgical nurse before venturing into Obstetrics—Labor & Delivery, Postpartum Care, and the NICU. Over the years, I’ve pursued professional development and earned certifications as a Childbirth Educator and an IBCLC Lactation Consultant.
As I transitioned into school nursing, I continued to hold per diem positions at BIDMC and Beverly Hospital, staying connected to bedside care as a lactation consultant and nurse educator during the summer months and on various weekends. I have also been involved in public health through the health department, supporting vaccine clinics, contact tracing, CPR education, and serving as a clinical instructor for college nursing students.
Each summer, my sons and I spend two weeks under the pines at Camp Belknap NH, where I serve as camp nurse while they enjoy the outdoors and make lifelong friendships.
When I am not in the nurse's office, at the bedside, or in the lecture hall, you may find me enjoying my time with my husband, Ryan, and our three children—Julia (AHS Class of 2025 and a rising freshman at Saint Anselm College) and our twin boys, Nathan and Andrew (AHS Class of 2028). Our family also includes Reba, our sweet rescue dog adopted in 2017. We love all things outdoors—especially hiking, biking, traveling, and discovering new places and authentic foods—but also enjoy quiet nights at home together.
On a personal level, I love waking with the sun, a good cup of coffee, learning about the newest health trends (weighted vest - lol) and Italian pastry, ricotta pie & tiramisu. I am also very active volunteer in our school community through the AHS Boosters, Grad Night Committee, and serve as one of the advisors to the Class of 2028.
School nursing has always been a strong desire of mine, and I’m so grateful to be part of the AHS community. I feel incredibly lucky for the warm welcome from the APS staff and administration—and I have to admit, the 3-minute walk to work is a wonderful bonus!
As your school nurse, I’m here to assess, treat, support, and educate. My goal is to help everyone stay well—and always find a way to seek the joy!
