The Commonwealth of Massachusetts outlines High Quality Professional Development (HQPD) as a cohesive and purposeful series of learning experiences designed to improve teacher practice and student success over time. This type of development empowers educators to guide student learning by acquiring and applying new knowledge, skills, and abilities that address the needs of students and align with the improvement goals of the district, school, and individual. HQPD is rooted in research-based best practices, directly applicable to educators' roles and responsibilities, and adheres to the ten Massachusetts Standards for Professional Development.
