Principal's Message

  • Dear AMS Community and Families,

It is with great pleasure and humility that I write this letter to you as the incoming principal of Amesbury Middle School.

I am truly honored to become a part of the Amesbury family and community. I have already had the opportunity to meet with many faculty members and a few parents, and I can already tell that it is a unique and special place that I am incredibly excited to become a part of.

I come to you with 28 years of experience as an educator; however I come from a family of educators, so I have been around this profession all of my life.

I have spent my entire career in Massachusetts, serving 4 years as a Middle School Technology Education teacher, 6 years as a Middle School Vice Principal, 6 years as an Elementary Principal, and  12 years as a  Middle School Principal.

This summer, I plan to spend the majority of my time working with everyone to ensure a smooth transition. I am getting to know our building, our community, and I am working diligently to familiarize myself with the unique needs of our school. I believe wholeheartedly that every student deserves a quality education in a safe, supportive environment, and that only happens when the school and the families work together for the best interests of our children. With that in mind I will be calling on all of our faculty, staff, and parents to work as a singular unit so we can best serve our children.

With the unprecedented pandemic crisis, we have already established a Re-Opening Task Force that meets on a weekly basis, preparing for all possible scenarios to ensure that when school re-opens it will be a safe and healthy environment for all who enter.

School will certainly look much different than it ever has, and we are keenly aware of not only the need to prioritize the physical health and safety of everyone, but the readiness to address the unique emotional and social needs or our staff, students and families during this particularly difficult time in the world.

We are in the process of updating our websites, and we are hopeful that you will soon see improvement in parent-school communication by utilizing these platforms.

You will be receiving periodic updates throughout the Summer, as things continue to evolve and change.

I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to immersing myself completely in our school and in our community. I believe my main responsibility is to put our teachers in the best possible position to succeed, as they will in turn put our children in the best possible position to succeed. I look forward to meeting all of you and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.

    Best Regards,

    Brian Gill

    Principal
