How to Register
To register your child for school you need to first determine if you live in the Amesbury Elementary School or Cashman Elementary School attendance zone. As a general rule of thumb, the boundaries are Whitehall Road and Elm Street. Please call one of the schools if you need assistance in determining where your child will attend.
The registration process takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete the paperwork. You will need to bring in proof of residency (utility bill, rental agreement, lease, etc. with your name and an Amesbury address). If your child has not been in a public school before we would also need a birth certificate. We will make any necessary copies for you. We will have you sign a form that will allow us to request that records be sent to us from your child's previous school.Typically your child will be able to start the day after you register unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Students who turn 5 on or before September 1 are eligible for Kindergarten. Kindergarten registration and screening is conducted the last few days of the school year. This is new this year! We hold an information night on May 31 at 6:30.
Our pre-K is a district program that services both students on Individualized Education Plans and typical peers. Pre-K programs are housed in both AES and CES. Screening is conducted in February and peer partner candidates are entered into a lottery. Peer partners are required to pay tuition. More information is available through the Director of Student Services and Special Education at the Superintendent's Office.
