Meet the Teacher - Technology Integration
My name is Leslie Barnaby and I have been a technology teacher at Cashman for over 20 years. With a Bachelors in Education and Psychology from Emmanuel College, and a Masters in Technology from Lesley University. I am state certified in both areas. I continue to take courses to keep my teachings fresh and current. Early in my career, I was a lead Montessori teacher in MA and NH and also worked as a manager of a Lexington, MA Community Residence for adults with disabilities
I think technology appealed to me due to the hands on nature of learning. I have always wanted to be a teacher. It was my own first grade teacher, Mrs. Reilly, who served as my first inspiration and later, my high school Latin teacher, Miss McCormack, who guided my final decision. I am fully certified in both K-8 Elementary Education and K-12 Technology Education. I feel fortunate to be a teacher in the Amesbury Public Schools.
All students attend a one hour technology class, along with grade level intervention/enrichment times. Technology is integrationed through most subjects. Many of our students are using chromebooks and younger grades use iPads. Technology skills need to be practiced in school and at home. Students do have continual homework in keyboarding using Type to Learn, one code course assigned each year, and ongoing math practice on ixl or reflex. If you have questions, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
"Integration is the pulling together all learning elements into one masterpiece and calling it yours."
