Leap into Literacy
Please don't forget the critical importance in the play of language and sounds by reading nursery rhymes and fairy tales to your child at a young age and continue this practice throughout their elementary years. I realize that some parents think the role of reading to their child ends when he/she starts to read. This couldn't be further from the truth. There are so many beautiful picture books, with amazing illustrations and touching themes, reading a piece of poetry that makes one laugh, and informational books to help one learn and grow. Snuggle up and share the love of literacy with your child. It's one of the greatest gifts that you can give. Please visit my booklist page, as well as Mrs. MacIntire's library page, and the Amesbury Public Library page for great suggestions on family reading.
